Allow People to Age out of Jury Duty

To: Gov. Polis, Sen. Kolker, Rep. Story

From: A constituent in Littleton, CO

February 24

Colorado should allow people over 72 to ask for an exemption to jury duty. I know the bill was vetoed last year. Our state doesn’t have good quick public transportation making it difficult for people who are no longer comfortable driving in rush hour or after dark to get to jury duty. There is a reason why social security starts at 62. It is when people sometimes can’t do a job. Jury duty is a job. Allowing, folks to decide for themselves at 72 whether they are capable of jury duty would be reasonable.
