oppose H.R. 1 provision that limits enforcement of contempt of court charges

To: Sen. Daines, Sen. Sheehy

From: A verified voter in Eureka, MT

May 27

This provision in H.R. 1 is a blatant attempt to undermine the critical system of checks and balances by stripping federal courts of their authority to enforce contempt orders against government officials. Allowing the executive branch to freely defy court orders and injunctions with no consequences is a dangerous erosion of judicial independence and the rule of law. The courts must retain their power to hold the other branches accountable when they violate constitutional rights or overstep their authority. I urge you to reject this undemocratic provision that protects lawless behavior and uphold the vital role of the federal judiciary as a co-equal branch of government. Protecting contempt enforcement preserves the system of checks and balances that is foundational to our democracy.
