Safeguard academic freedom, halt overreach against Harvard
To: Gov. Dunleavy
From: A constituent in Juneau, AK
May 27
The Trump administration's recent actions targeting Harvard University are deeply concerning and threaten to undermine academic excellence and institutional independence in America. Canceling federal contracts worth an estimated $100 million and attempting to sever all ties with Harvard sets a dangerous precedent of political interference in academia. World-class universities rely on federal funding to conduct vital research and provide quality education. Penalizing Harvard due to perceived ideological biases is antithetical to the principles of free inquiry and open discourse that drive innovation. I urge you to reconsider this misguided overreach that jeopardizes America's global leadership in higher education and intellectual advancement. Protect the autonomy of universities to foster critical thinking and the pursuit of knowledge free from partisan agendas.
