Support H.R. 1876 and H.R. 1877 to Protect Social Security
To: Rep. Kean
From: A verified voter in Washington, NJ
April 20
I am writing to express my deep concern about recent actions that appear to undermine Social Security and to urge you to support H.R. 1876 and H.R. 1877, introduced by Representative John Larson, to protect this vital program.
As a constituent, I am alarmed by reports of staff cuts at Social Security, field office closures, the agency's apparent reliance on X for communication, and alarming interruptions to service. Over 70 million Americans, including senior citizens and children, rely on Social Security, making it the largest anti-poverty program in the country. Attacks on this program are unconscionable and will have disastrous consequences for voters in our district.
I urge you to co-sponsor both H.R. 1876, the Keeping Our Field Offices Open Act, and H.R. 1877, the Protecting Americans’ Social Security Data Act. These bills represent a crucial step in asserting congressional authority and fighting for the protection of Social Security. We must ensure that this essential program remains strong and accessible for current and future generations.
Thank you for your attention to this critical matter.
