Vote no on the CLARITY Act. This bill would strip the SEC of its authority over digital assets and hand it to the CFTC — a body that lacks the investor protections securities law requires: no mandatory disclosures, no fiduciary obligations, no meaningful safeguards for ordinary people. That's not a regulatory reform. That's a gift to an industry built on fraud, money laundering, and speculation.
The cosmetic changes being floated — slightly tougher ethics rules, modest law-enforcement tweaks — don't fix the core problem. The crypto lobby has donated $35 million to Trump's PAC and is now getting legislation written to its specifications. The result of passing this bill will be more opacity, more tax evasion, and more crime. Everyday investors will pay the price while well-connected insiders walk away clean.
Block this bill. The vote is next week, and my call is already logged at (202) 224-3121. I'll be watching how you vote.
