Make the LNG Pipeline Work for Alaskans

To: Rep. Nelson, Sen. Rauscher, Gov. Dunleavy

From: A verified voter in Palmer, AK

May 26

I do not currently support the proposed LNG pipeline project because of the environmental damage and long term industrial footprint it would create across Alaska. The impact on tundra, rivers, wildlife habitat, and coastal ecosystems should not be taken lightly. However, if this project is going to move forward, then it must provide extraordinary and lasting benefits to Alaskans, not just corporations and outside investors. If we are going to accept major environmental impacts, then the public return should be equally major. Revenue from this project should be invested directly into Alaska’s future through infrastructure, outdoor recreation and public lands, schools, roads, energy security, and the Permanent Fund. Alaska has already experienced decades of resource extraction. We should not accept another project where most of the wealth leaves the state while Alaskans are left with the long term consequences. If this project proceeds, I urge you to fight for strong environmental protections, fair taxation, and guaranteed long term public benefit for Alaskans.
