I am outraged by the cuts to funding the Head Start. As a former Head Start mom and as someone who served on the Policy Council for the Warren County NY ... Warrensburg school, I can attest to the benefits to not only the children, but the community as a whole. Honestly, they are barely funded anyway. As a parent, I organized can drives to buy the classroom a computer and learning programs in 1999. I volunteered the 2nd highest amount of hours for our schools. Beaten by an unemployed mother ... and by the teachers and aids, of course. My son was observed to have a physical disability that was able to be corrected AT THE AGE OF 3, thanks to the fine teachers of the Head Start. When I was beaten and bruised by my husband and we went through a divorce and child custody cases, the nurse for the school introduced my my father to her husband, a very fine attorney who my father was more than happy to pay. This man saved my son from my ex husband's new girlfriend that had 26 FOUNDED ACCOUNTS OF CHILD ABUSE and whose little brother soon after went to state prison for molesting his cousins after being abused as such by his uncle. Can you not see the importance of the Head Start for a small mountain town in the Adirondacks of NY ? Please ! I ask you ... FUND THE HEAD START !
