We, the undersigned, call on elected officials at every level—local, state, and federal—to uphold the U.S. Constitution and protect the fundamental right to freedom of religion and belief.
In recent declarations, state leaders have openly stated that their government and legal systems will follow “the Lord Jesus Christ” as the foundation for law and justice. These statements are not merely symbolic—they represent a clear and dangerous erosion of the separation between church and state.
This is not religious freedom. This is religious rule.
And it threatens the rights, safety, and dignity of millions.
Our laws must protect all people equally—regardless of faith, belief, or background. When a single religion is given governing authority, all others are silenced.
We demand:
1. Immediate public condemnation of religious governance by all elected officials who have sworn to uphold the Constitution.
2. Federal and legal review of any state-level declarations or actions that violate the First Amendment.
3. National protections against theocratic overreach in states where religious fundamentalism is replacing representative governance.
4. Support for grassroots communities organizing against these actions—including resources for legal aid, advocacy, and public education.
We speak not from hatred, but from hope.
Not from fear, but from love of democracy.
And from the understanding that true faith is never forced—it is freely chosen.
We stand together in defense of liberty, diversity, and humanity.
We ask: If not now, when? If not you, who?

I will not allow democracy to be replaced by religious rule.
I will not be silent when others are silenced.
I will protect the freedom of belief for all.
