Oppose S.253! Abortion IS and should REMAIN a legal medical expense!

To: Sen. Scott, Sen. Moody

From: A constituent in Pensacola, FL

February 4, 2025

I strongly urge against passing S. 253, the bill aimed at disallowing medical expense deductions for abortion costs. This legislation represents an unacceptable infringement on reproductive rights and personal healthcare decisions. Abortion is a legal medical procedure that should be treated as such without punitive financial consequences. Furthermore, denying deductions for this care would disproportionately burden lower-income individuals and families. At a time when economic pressures are mounting, we should be expanding access to affordable healthcare, not erecting additional barriers. This bill undermines bodily autonomy and targets a constitutionally protected medical service. I implore you to reject S. 253 and uphold reproductive freedom and equitable access to comprehensive healthcare. The government has no place inserting itself into private medical choices between patients and their doctors.
