If you listened to Trump’s remarks today at the World Economic Forum in Davos and are not seriously discussing impeachment or the 25th Amendment, then the failure is no longer just his you are squarely involved by abdicating your job as a member of congress.
Davos exists to confront shared risk and shared responsibility: global economic stability, geopolitical security, climate, technology, and democratic resilience. It is not a venue for domestic political theater or campaign rallies.
When campaign rhetoric is imported into Davos:
• Serious global challenges are diminished
• Trust among allies is weakened
• The United States appears unserious and inward-looking
• Complex policy is reduced to applause lines. That is not leadership. It is performance.
Any elected official who heard that speech and considered it acceptable should be deeply embarrassed not just personally, but professionally. I am embarrassed as an American.
The Constitution provides mechanisms for moments exactly like this. Use them.
Do your job and remove him by lawful means before this escalates further.
If you choose not to act, then the responsibility for what follows rests squarely with you.
