I am aware of reports that DHS is quietly dismissing agents that have been hired and deployed after their background checks failed. I am urging you to investigate this matter, subpoena DHS staff, and request the preservation of all records supporting the hiring, deployment, and dismissal of these agents. It is irresponsible to allow unvetted new hires to be deployed for field work. The public deserves transparency about this entire process: Who made the decision to pass these agents absent background checks? How long did they operate in our communities? What harms did they inflict during their employment? Who will be held responsible for these errors in judgement?
