An Open Letter

Over the last three months I have been spending time almost every day on the plaza at the Kennedy Center holding a series of hand-painted signs. Today's sign was NOTICEABLY far more popular than any previous one. I get waves, thumbs-up, rueful shrugs, honks, headlight blinks, and supportive shouts from close to 100% of passing cars and pedestrians. Most of my signs would get a response from 25% at most. Remember, I have been doing this for quite a while, so the reaction to this new sign is quite striking. People are paying attention to what's happening at the Kennedy Center, and they are very upset about it. My sign reads, "SHAME on the Trump Board / you have destroyed something precious" -- and I think the big, big word "SHAME" is really resonating. .
I hope, Senator Warner, that you now regret blowing off that Kennedy Center Board of Trustees meeting earlier this week. Because although you would have been outvoted by the Trump bootlickers, you could at least have spoken up for our precious performing arts center and our wonderful NSO. Some of that "SHAME" is on YOU.
