Support Truth & Healing Commission on Indian Boarding School Policies Act HR7227
To: Rep. Salinas
From: A verified voter in Dayton, OR
November 25
I'm a constituent in rural Yamhill County, on Kalapuya land, writing in solidarity with Indigenous people. We must deliver on the promises of justice and healing following President Biden’s apology to Indigenous Peoples for the U.S. government’s long-running, violent boarding school system. For over 150 years, the system separated families in order to eradicate Indigenous cultures and language and seize tribal lands, perpetrating genocide against Indigenous peoples and traumatizing generations of children with violence and abuse. I urge Representative Salinas to join our Oregon senators and Representatives Bonamici and Chavez-DeRemer as a co-sponsor of the Truth and Healing Commission on Indian Boarding School Policies Act (S. 1723/H.R. 7227).
