Trump’s Stolen Valor Parade

To: Sen. Scott, Rep. Mast, Sen. Moody

From: A verified voter in Hobe Sound, FL

June 15

After a young wounded veteran sang the anthem at an event, Trump asked Gen. John Kelly why he had someone like that onstage. He said “no one wants to see that”. Referring to the soldier’s disabilities. (How does that land, Brian Mast?) He called members of the military “suckers and losers “. He asked John Kelly, “what was in it for them”, as he stood by graves in Arlington. As I write this I am becoming emotional: outrage and sorrow. How can anyone still support him? His Stolen Valor Parade yesterday was a travesty. The Armed Services deserve so much better. He cuts services to veterans and uses taxpayer dollars to throw himself a birthday party. The US Army deserves a celebration for the 250th anniversary, by all means. But not a celebration that puts Trump at the center, as his did. My Dad was a medic in WWII and his service was a source of pride for him. We are all proud of our great military. We are NOT proud of Trump or his feckless incompetent cabinet. Hegseth is a disgrace at DOD. He’s a DUI hire. I honored the military and the flag yesterday by carrying a flag and a sign at a protest. We the people will uphold democracy while you lick Trump’s boots. History is recording. You won’t be able to erase it. You’ll be held accountable. Your legacy is suffering, struggle, poverty, and hatred. Shame.
