I need you to block the Bureau of Land Management's plan to open 850,000 acres in central California to drilling and fracking. This includes parcels in wildly inappropriate locations: 5 acres across from a middle school, 1,222 acres within a coastal state park, and sites near a wild and scenic river that provides critical habitat for endangered steelhead.
The Trump administration just declared Sable Offshore exempt from state law to restart three oil platforms in the Santa Barbara Channel and the pipeline that caused the 2015 Refugio oil spill. Sable bought this infrastructure from ExxonMobil in 2024 and started pumping oil under "emergency orders" while state permits are still pending and litigation is ongoing. This is a dangerous precedent that strips states of their authority to protect their own coastlines and communities.
Across the West, budget cuts from DOGE are gutting the agencies that manage our public lands, eliminating jobs and destroying decades of climate research precisely when we need it most. Defunding this science is a coverup of the damage the oil and gas industry is doing to our region.
Our public lands belong to all of us, not to oil executives. Stand up to this administration and protect what we stand to lose.
