Solutions and alternatives to Texas' age verification laws and bans

To: Justices Court

It's not that anyone wants kids to be exposed to porn or to be exploited. But better ways to protect children exist that don't involve trampling on speech and expression. Parental controls are readily available on all devices. There are video tutorials on how to use them online. I also know that everyone knows porn isn't healthy for kids to consume and that it's not appropriate. It's why we have parental controls in the first place. Another solution would be to make more child-oriented spaces online and offline. Kids spend time online because there aren't any places for them to play, nor for teens to congregate. Restoring recess, gym, making more parks, amusement parks and arcades would be a boon to them. NCOSE doesn't suggest alternatives to minors accessing the Internet. They instead want to censor it and make it a trial for adults to access speech they don't like. Groups that ally with them also don't care for kids or the rights of other people. All they care about is passing ineffective bills that make them look good while their members are arrested. Arrested for producing and possessing CSEM. This is why strict scrutiny is important. It's a vetting process that guarantees more effective bills and allows for solutions to develop and improve organically.
