Reject ideological agenda in school health curriculum

To: Sen. Shaheen, Sen. Hassan, Rep. Goodlander

From: A constituent in Concord, NH

February 5

This misguided legislation would mandate public schools to show disturbing and biased videos about abortion procedures to students, violating their right to factual, age-appropriate health education. It imposes a heavy-handed, ideological agenda by requiring the use of materials from an anti-abortion organization, rather than allowing schools to use comprehensive, medically accurate resources. This is an unacceptable overreach into local control of curriculum. Requiring the viewing of these graphic videos promotes stigma around abortion and could potentially re-traumatize students who have experienced pregnancy loss or sexual violence. Health education should provide students with complete, science-based information to make informed decisions about their well-being, not expose them to politically-motivated scare tactics. I urge you to reject this bill that disregards educational best practices and undermines students' access to unbiased health information. Ideological agendas have no place in public school curricula. Protect students' rights to comprehensive sex education by voting no on this harmful legislation.
