ICE IS MURDERING CITIZENS!

To: Rep. Mace, Sen. Graham, Sen. Scott

From: A constituent in Mount Pleasant, SC

January 25

I am writing to demand immediate congressional action regarding the killing of Alex Pretti, a U.S. citizen who was exercising his constitutional right to protest when he was shot and killed by federal agents in Minneapolis. Mr. Pretti was not charged with a crime, was not convicted by a court, and was not afforded due process. Yet he was killed in the street, posthumously labeled a “domestic terrorist,” and the federal government has moved to block meaningful, independent investigation. This follows the earlier killing of Renée Good, raising grave concerns that federal force is being used without accountability against civilians engaged in lawful dissent. This is a dangerous moment for our society. When the state can kill a citizen engaged in protest, suppress investigation, and control the narrative without oversight, the rule of law is no longer intact. These actions are incompatible with the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and any functioning democracy. Congress exists to serve as a check on executive power. If it fails to act now, it signals that constitutional rights are conditional and that federal agents operate above the law. That path leads not to security, but to authoritarianism. I urge you to immediately: Demand a truly independent investigation into the killing of Alex Pretti and related incidents Exercise oversight authority over federal law enforcement use of force against civilians Reaffirm and defend the First, Fourth, and Fifth Amendment rights of the American people History will judge whether Congress drew the line when it mattered. Our democracy depends on what you do now.
