Allow the veto to stand - protect our votes
To: Rep. Setzer
From: A constituent in Troutman, NC
December 4
The proposed Senate Bill 382 raises significant concerns about the preservation of democratic principles and the will of North Carolina voters. This legislation aims to strip away key powers from the incoming governor and attorney general, roles directly chosen by the electorate. Transferring authority over the Board of Elections, limiting the attorney general's legal stances, and forcing judicial appointments from partisan lists undermine the independence of these offices and the checks and balances vital to our system of government. North Carolinians have a fundamental right to choose their representation through free and fair elections. Efforts to diminish the authority of duly elected officials disrespect the voice of the people and erode public trust in our institutions. Rather than accepting the outcome of the recent election, the politicians behind this bill are attempting to enforce their own agenda through overreach and political maneuvering. I urge you to reject Senate Bill 382 and uphold the principles of democracy that protect the rights of all citizens to have their votes respected and their chosen leaders empowered to serve. Preserving the integrity of our electoral process and the balance of powers should be of paramount importance. This undemocratic power grab undermines the will of North Carolina voters and sets a dangerous precedent that must be rejected.
