I wanted to express my concerns about Senator Van Drew's support for the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and its activities, particularly those involving Elon Musk. I understand the importance of government efficiency, but I'm concerned about DOGE's lack of transparency. Despite claims of being "maximally transparent," there have been numerous errors in their published data, such as listing contracts that had not yet been awarded and duplicating savings amounts. I'm also worried about potential conflicts of interest, given Musk's significant government contracts and influence. His dual role raises questions about impartiality, especially considering his companies' history of labor violations and unsafe working conditions. Constitutionally, DOGE's actions, such as dissolving agencies and seizing congressionally authorized funds, seem to violate Article 1 of the Constitution, leading to multiple lawsuits. Additionally, the demeaning tone towards federal employees is troubling. It feels like "we the people" are being attacked instead of addressing the processes that are unwieldy and wasteful. Federal employees deserve respect and fair treatment. While I recognize the need for government reform and the potential benefits of modernizing federal technology, the current approach is disappointing. I respectfully ask Senator Van Drew to advocate for more transparency, accountability, and professional behavior in DOGE's operations.
