Congressman Kean’s Staffer States the Quiet Part Out Loud

To: Sen. Kim, Rep. Kean, Sen. Booker

From: A verified voter in Budd Lake, NJ

February 9

As a constituent of this district, I contacted the DC office of Congressman Kean following the racist and inflammatory post from the White House last week. Since there are *so many* to choose from, I am specifically referencing the jungle parody including a racist and disgusting animation of the former President and First Lady as monkeys/apes of some sort. I asked the staffer who answered the telephone when to expect a statement from Congressman Kean denouncing the clear abuse of the White House social media platform for racist propaganda and was advised that Congressman Kean did not have any intention of making one. When I asked why, the staffer was silent for about thirty seconds. I asked, “it’s because he doesn’t even care, correct?” The staffer replied “yes, ma’am.” I’m sure your calls are recorded and I highly recommend reviewing them. It’s bad enough that the people who hired Kean want a response that will not be forthcoming, but it’s absolutely maddening that he employs people who advise voters that their representative does not, in fact, care about our concerns- especially, apparently, those raised by the Black community. NJ used to be a relatively safe space. Unfortunately, as the nation moves farther toward the alt-right, Congressman Kean and his staff are making it abundantly clear that it is more of a Sundown Town than previously believed. I hope that Senators Kim and Booker intend to address this with Kean, and I hope to receive a response from the congressman himself addressing the situation. WE THE PEOPLE employed you. You work for us. Start acting like it.
