Stop ignoring blatant hypocrisy in voting rights. Stop trump.

To: Sen. Kim, Rep. Kean, Sen. Booker

From: A verified voter in Budd Lake, NJ

April 1

You cannot ignore the blatant hypocrisy and danger in what is unfolding. Donald Trump has repeatedly used and benefited from mail-in voting while simultaneously attempting to undermine it for millions of Americans. Now, proposing that mail-in voters be “vetted” by Department of Homeland Security and Social Security Administration before being allowed to cast a ballot crosses a line that should alarm every one of you. This is not election security. This is voter suppression dressed up as bureaucracy. There is no legitimate democratic precedent for requiring intelligence or benefits agencies to pre-clear citizens before they can vote. Such a system would disproportionately target the elderly, the disabled, low-income Americans, and those already navigating complex federal systems—effectively creating a barrier to participation under the false guise of “verification.” Let’s be clear: when a sitting president seeks to restrict access to voting methods he himself uses, while adding layers of government control over who is “allowed” to vote, it raises serious concerns about intent. It is not about protecting elections—it is about controlling them. Your responsibility is not to rationalize this. It is to stop it. If you allow federal agencies to be weaponized against voters, you are complicit in dismantling the very foundation of representative government. Free and fair elections do not require political loyalty tests or administrative gatekeeping—they require access, integrity, and equal treatment under the law. So act accordingly. Block any effort to impose unlawful or discriminatory barriers to voting. Demand transparency. Hold hearings. And make it unmistakably clear that no administration—regardless of party—has the authority to decide which Americans are worthy of participating in democracy. Anything less is a failure of your oath. Do your job.
