Please urge the governor of the state of NJ to take action regarding sewage treatment in Morris County, and the proposed ICE facility’s potential impact on those treatment plants. The sewage treatment plants in Mount Olive, NJ are rapidly failing. The smell of human excrement permeates everything within a mile radius around them. Citizens are breathing in the noxious fumes of their neighbors defecation. More importantly, one of those treatment facilities is within 1/4 mile of a middle school where Mount Olive children are trapped with the malodorous scent all day long. This is neither healthy nor acceptable. And now an ICE facility that would share these treatment facilities is threatening to cause a literal overflow of human feces into our town’s streets. WE THE PEOPLE of New Jersey deserve better. Send the EPA in to fix mount olive sewage treatment plants AND keep this from happening again by prohibiting ICE to develop facilities in our neighborhoods!
