An Open Letter

To: Rep. Soto

From: A verified voter in Kissimmee, FL

February 7

Representative Nancy Mace needs to face disciplinary action for her CHOICE, as it absolutely a CHOICE, to use derogatory slurs. Spewing off slurs in unprovoked anger is inappropriate at a congressional hearing, especially as someone we're expected to address as "gentlelady". It doesn't matter what slur or what group it's against, it's unprofessional, and it's only because it was against the trans community that she wasn't immediately stopped. If she was yelling “n*gga n*gga n*gga” in regards to Black people she would have been removed for violating decorum, this is no different. Her refusal to being counseled by the chairman is another professional violation, if she takes issue with it's policies and procedures she shouldn't be a part of the committee. Chairman Comer also needs to take responsibility. He cannot claim to not be up to date on LGBTQ terminology when having just been informed moments earlier that the term Representative Mace was using was indeed a slur.
