The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) has been a lifeline for over 22 million low-income households, including disabled veterans, by providing a $30 monthly discount on home broadband service. This program has a measurable positive impact on people from all walks of life, particularly those in rural areas, by facilitating easier access to information. However, without additional funding, the ACP is expected to cease in April, leaving millions without connectivity and facing debt. The proposed Affordable Connectivity Program Extension Act, which seeks an additional $7 billion, could prevent this. The cessation of the ACP would disrupt broadband affordability goals and access to federal grants, affecting households, communities, broadband providers, and states. Therefore, I strongly urge you to support the extension act in good faith. The ACP enjoys bipartisan support and can be sustained with prompt funding extension.
