The tragic school shooting in Minnesota has left me heartbroken and furious. No child should face gunfire in a classroom, yet these preventable tragedies continue.
I urge you to support and advance federal legislation that:
• Limits access to firearms for individuals who pose a danger, and
• Establishes strong, enforceable safe-storage and child access prevention laws that hold adults accountable when minors access unsecured guns.
Other states have already implemented such protections, and evidence shows they reduce accidental shootings, suicides, and school violence. It is unacceptable that Congress continues to allow inaction while children die.
Please show courage and leadership by putting children’s lives ahead of politics. We need laws that will prevent the next tragedy—not just words after it happens.
