Reject Discriminatory Legislation Targeting Transgender Rights and Dignity

To: Sen. Van Hollen, Sen. Cardin, Rep. Ivey

From: A verified voter in Greenbelt, MD

November 21

It is concerning that Rep. Mace is proposing to bar transgender individuals like Rep.-elect Sarah McBride from accessing bathrooms that align with their gender identity. This discriminatory measure seems to be a politically-motivated attack targeting McBride specifically, despite a lack of evidence that transgender people pose any threat in restroom facilities. Such divisive policies promoting fear and intolerance are unwarranted and harmful. They ignore the basic dignity and rights of transgender Americans, who simply want to use public accommodations without harassment. Rather than pursuing unnecessary government overreach into people's private lives, our representatives should focus on real issues impacting their constituents. This bill appears to be a solution chasing a non-existent problem and should be rejected.
