Vote Yes on HB 26-1007
To: Sen. Lindstedt
From: A constituent in Broomfield, CO
March 10
I am writing as a constituent to urge your support for HB 26-1007 in the Colorado Senate.
HB 26-1007 has already passed the House, demonstrating strong bipartisan support. Now it needs your vote to keep that momentum going.
HB 26-1007 passed the Colorado House on March 5, 2026, by a 48-16 vote after clearing the House Energy & Environment Committee 9-2 on February 26, 2026. The bill now heads to the Colorado Senate. It would allow portable-scale solar generation devices up to 1,920W per meter, requires devices to meet the UL 3700 safety standard, includes protections against utility or property-based restrictions, and encourages the use of meter collars to streamline solar installation.
Plug-in solar systems are small, affordable photovoltaic panels (typically 400W to 1,200W) that connect directly to a standard household outlet. They allow renters and homeowners alike to reduce their electricity bills without expensive rooftop installations or complex permitting.
Utah has already enacted a clear legal framework for these systems, and Colorado has the opportunity to join this growing movement. The UL 3700 safety certification framework, launched in January 2026, ensures these systems meet rigorous safety standards.
Please vote yes on HB 26-1007 and help bring affordable, accessible solar energy to Colorado residents.
