Stop Federal Violence and Demand Accountability for ICE in Minneapolis
To: Rep. Swalwell
From: A constituent in Fremont, CA
January 25
I am writing in outrage and grief over the deadly actions of federal immigration agents in Minneapolis. People are being killed by government officials in the streets. This is state violence, and it is happening in our name.
No matter someone’s immigration status, no government agency should be acting as judge, jury, and executioner. The normalization of lethal force in immigration enforcement is morally indefensible and fundamentally un-American. Communities are living in terror, families are traumatized, and trust in government institutions is collapsing.
The United States claims to stand for fairness, justice, and human rights. Yet what people are seeing is fear, militarization, and death. These actions echo the worst abuses of state power, and history will judge those who remained silent.
I demand that you:
• Call for immediate, independent investigations into all killings by federal agents
• Demand the removal or suspension of agents involved pending investigation
• Push for hearings, transparency, and accountability at the highest levels of DHS and ICE
• Support legislation to drastically limit or dismantle violent immigration enforcement practices
Your job is to represent the people, not defend agencies that operate with impunity. Silence and inaction make you complicit. This is a moment that requires moral courage, not political caution.
We deserve a country where government power does not mean fear of death. Please act accordingly.
