Please vote to pass HB 1710 to strengthen our state Voting Rights Act. I believe that voters of color should have an equal opportunity to cast their ballots and see themselves represented in our government. But under our current system, it is a long and costly process to challenge policies that disadvantage minority voters. As the Supreme Court has weakened our national Voting Rights Act, we have the opportunity to strengthen our state law and continue our legacy as a leader in voting rights. If you pass this bill, we can prevent voter suppression before it happens, and bypass the long-lasting harm to our communities that occurs during the years it takes to bring a WVRA suit. Please pass HB 1710 forward!
