I read the below from Dan Roderick’s and I agree! Do something to stop Trump and his corrupt administration! “From Dan Roderick’s - From the Associated Press: Iranian authorities on Sunday said at least 50 people have been killed and 517 wounded in the latest rounds of U.S. strikes. Since the war began, 17 U.S. service members have been killed. In April 1971, Vietnam veteran John Kerry delivered powerful and graphic testimony to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, making an impassioned plea for an immediate withdrawal of U.S. forces from the Southeast Asian country where more than 45,000 U.S. troops had died. Eventually, another 13,000 would die under President Nixon’s long exit strategy, and Vietnamese military and civilian deaths would reach estimates of more than 3 million. The last U.S. troops did not leave Saigon until 1975. The most quoted lines from Kerry’s speech were these: “How do you ask a man to be the last man to die in Vietnam? How do you ask a man to be the last man to die for a mistake?” As Trump conducts, with dubious purpose, his misguided and wasteful war with Iran, I hear loud echoes of Kerry’s remarks about Vietnam — and not just those two famous lines, but many more. In fact, leading up to the most-quoted part of Kerry’s testimony was this: And now we’re told that the men who fought there must watch quietly while American lives are lost each day to facilitate the process by which the United States doesn’t have to admit something that the entire world already knows, so that we can’t say that we’ve made a mistake. Someone has to die so that President Nixon won’t be, and these are his words, “the first President to lose a war.” … And we are asking Americans to think about that because how do you ask a man to be the last man to die in Vietnam? How do you ask a man to be the last man to die for a mistake? But we’re trying to do that, and we’re doing it with thousands of rationalizations…” There’s a lot more to it, including this: “There is nothing in South Vietnam that realistically threatens the United States of America. And to attempt to justify the loss of one American life in Vietnam, Cambodia or Laos by linking such loss to the preservation of freedom is to us the height of criminal hypocrisy.” Kerry’s speech is worth reading today. Trump’s war needs opposition from the American people. We can learn (and relearn) much from the echoes of 1971.”
