Oppose the SCREEN Act, protect our freedom

To: Sen. Budd, Rep. Edwards, Sen. Tillis

From: A constituent in Fletcher, NC

August 2

I urge you to actively oppose S.737, the SCREEN Act, proposed by Sen. Mike Lee. We the people have seen far too often how internet surveillance bills like this have been used to disparage minority voices and amplify hate. People in the UK have been suffering under new age verification measures for completely innocuous things, such as a "fandom" server on the online messaging platform, Discord. If this bill is passed, I have no doubt that it's restrictions would also carry over to Elon Musk's social media platform, X. You never know who may have access to this information, nor to whom it may be leaked. Since I am greatly concerned about our national security, surely you can see how this would adversely affect not only we constituents, but our representatives as well. I urge you to oppose this egregious attempt to not only survey, but endanger the lives of every internet user, yourselves included.
