An Open Letter

To: Sen. Budd, Sen. Tillis, Rep. Edwards

From: A constituent in Maggie Valley, NC

December 5

I'm writing to urge you to call on the House Ethics Committee to release the report on their investigation into Matt Gaetz without delay. The allegations against him – including sexual misconduct, drug use, and improper interactions with lobbyists – are deeply concerning. The public has a right to transparency regarding the findings on this former congressman who was recently nominated for a high-level cabinet position. While Gaetz resigned from Congress, the Ethics Committee still maintains jurisdiction over former members. Transparency and accountability are paramount, especially when it involves potential misconduct by powerful officials. The committee is meeting this Thursday to decide on releasing the report. If they refuse to do so, the full House should vote to compel its release. This report's findings must be made public to uphold the integrity of our government institutions and maintain public trust. I implore you to advocate strongly for the Ethics Committee to vote in favor of full transparency by releasing this report immediately.
