My name is Erica Wand and I'm from SF, CA 94112. I'm writing about the End Slavery in CA Act, known as ACA 8.
Despite the abolition of slavery, involuntary servitude still continues in California with the Constitution’s Exception Clause.
Refusing work should not result in punitive measures. CDCR's work assignments need more transparency and often need to provide meaningful skill-building opportunities.
Passing ACA 8 would remove the remaining vestige of slavery and would finally align California with its stated values. Please support ACA 8 and end slavery in California. Thank you.
