The Trump administration's proposal to take "ownership" of Gaza and relocate Palestinians away from the territory raises major concerns about human rights violations and undermining peace efforts. The Palestinian people have endured decades of displacement, occupation, and conflict. Any plan that fails to respect their right to self-determination and denies them a future homeland is unacceptable. Gaza is not a real estate development opportunity - it is home to nearly 2 million Palestinians who have suffered immensely from cycles of violence and blockades. Rather than pursuing unilateral actions, the focus should be on reviving meaningful negotiations towards a just and lasting two-state solution, providing humanitarian aid, and allowing the Palestinian people to exercise their inalienable rights. Upholding human rights and pursuing diplomatic paths to peace must take priority over exploitative policies that only perpetuate the deadly status quo.
