Launch an immediate investigation into the $500 million no-bid contract awarded to Clark Construction for a White House ballroom, and block any further taxpayer funds from flowing to this project. Trump repeatedly promised the public this ballroom would be privately funded — he even quoted donors saying "Sir, we'll do it for nothing. This is the greatest honor." That promise is now exposed as false.
The administration bypassed standard competitive bidding requirements by routing the contract through the Executive Residence, then justified it by citing a federal maintenance law that a judge already rejected in March when the administration tried to use it for this exact purpose. The stated reason for skipping competitive bids — that disclosure would "compromise national security" — is not a credible justification for building a ballroom. This is half a billion dollars in public money handed to a single contractor, without competition, for a vanity project Trump said would cost us nothing. That demands accountability.
