Vote NO on DHS Funding Bill
To: Rep. Liccardo
From: A verified voter in Palo Alto, CA
January 22
I strongly urge you to vote NO on the DHS funding bill coming up for vote in the House on the 22nd. All funding for ICE should be stopped. That may be unrealistic, but the agreement for body cameras and some additional training is simply inadequate to reign in the terror that ICE has unleashed on the American people.
ICE now claims they do not need judicial warrants to break into peoples’ homes, point guns at their heads, and take them away to detention centers that are nothing more than prison camps. This is in clear violation of the Fourth Amendment.
There is no value in “reaching across the aisle” if doing so is in service of a great evil. Let the Republicans pass the bill on their own. I ask this knowing that Democrats managed to strip many anti-transgender riders from this and other bills in the minibus. I am grateful for that, but this is not a trade off we should accept in good conscience. Please vote NO on the DHS funding bill.
