Vote Against Markwayne Mullin's Confirmation as DHS Secretary

I'm asking you to vote against Markwayne Mullin's confirmation as Secretary of Homeland Security. His record shows he lacks the judgment this critical position demands, and his stated positions on immigration violate constitutional law.
Mullin told NBC's Kristen Welker that any babies born in the United States to undocumented parents should be deported if the adults are removed. When asked what should happen to these children, he said "they should go where their parents are." This isn't just bad policy. It's a direct assault on birthright citizenship guaranteed by the 14th Amendment. The person leading the DHS cannot advocate for deporting American citizens and immigrants.
His immigration record mirrors Trump's most extreme positions. Mullin co-sponsored the Laken Riley Act, a clearly anti-immigrant bill that scapegoats an entire community to advance a xenophobic agenda. The bill mandates ICE detention for undocumented immigrants merely charged with theft or burglary until deportation proceedings are complete. He has consistently defended ICE, attacked sanctuary city policies as "obstruction of federal law," and frames mass deportation as "a legal obligation." As DHS Secretary, he would be indistinguishable from Kristi Noem in pursuing these hardline policies.
His temperament is equally disqualifying. Mullin is politically violent. He nearly came to blows with Teamsters President Sean O'Brien during a Senate hearing, even challenging him to a physical fight. A senator who can't control himself in a hearing room cannot be trusted to lead an agency responsible for national security and disaster response.
Vote NO on this nomination.
