Bring the DISCLOSE Act to the Floor and Vote Yes
Bring the DISCLOSE Act to the floor for a vote and pass it. Dark money has corrupted our elections for too long. Voters deserve to know who is funding the campaigns that influence our democracy.
Anonymous spending through shell organizations and super PACs drowns out my voice and those of the evidently insignificant serf class americans. When billionaires and corporations can quietly pour unlimited money into elections and hide their identities, they're buying influence while the rest of us are left in the dark. This isn't transparency. It's Legalized Corruption.
The DISCLOSE Act would require organizations spending money in federal elections to reveal donors who contribute over $10,000. To you that's a reasonable threshold that protects everyday contributors while exposing the mega-donors trying to buy our government. Every voter has the right to know who is bankrolling the ads they see and the candidates they're being asked to support.
$10,000 is a lot of money to those in the serf class. To me $3,000 - $5,000 sounds like a more acceptable range that would more in keeping with ethics and transparency. Having said this I really think all political donations should be transparent.
I expect you to fight for this bill and vote yes when it reaches the floor. Our democracy depends on transparency, and your constituents are watching.
