An Open Letter

To: Sen. Alsobrooks, Rep. McClain Delaney, Sen. Van Hollen

From: A constituent in Ijamsville, MD

June 24

Congress must act to reign in the new rule at DOJ (May 6, 2026) that would allow the AG to house prisoners in whatever facility they so choose. The previous rules were to regulate that according to the best interest of the public at large, but this feels like it will be done for the interests of only one person. This cannot be how we operate in a democracy. I urge you to look into this situation and find a remedy. This must be bipartisan - surely everyone on both side of the aisle can see that this rule can be used for political retribution. No one should want that.
