I hope you have congratulated Representative Beatty for her successful suit against the illegal renaming of the Kennedy Center. But Senator, I also hope you are ashamed about your silence and lack of leadership. Like Rep. Beatty, you are an ex-officio member of the Kennedy Center Board of Trustees. I have written you about this, and phoned your office, too, but the phone staff was clearly unaware of your position on the Kennedy Center Board, which is rather telling, don't you think? You and the other ex-officio members of the Board are even more culpable than the 18 fired Trustees who took no public action whatsoever to protest their removal and protect the institution. You were NOT removed, yet you did nothing. So when I say "I hope you have congratulated Representative Beatty," what I really mean is, you had darned well better, because it's the least you could do, other than what you actually DID do, meaning, nothing. Note to Senator Warner's staff: Please draft a note of congratulations to Rep. Beatty on his behalf. Then make him sign it. And deliver it.
