I am writing as a horrified and deeply ashamed American to demand immediate action in response to the apparent execution of another U.S. citizen by ICE agents in Minnesota today. This is not an abstract policy dispute; it is a direct assault on the Constitution and on the basic idea of what it means to live in a free country. You swore an oath to protect and defend the Constitution, and right now, you are failing. Federal agents should not be roaming American cities acting like an unaccountable paramilitary force. The use of deadly force against our fellow citizens must be absolutely exceptional, rigorously justified, and subject to real oversight and consequence. Instead, we are watching a pattern of brutality and impunity that is incompatible with a free society. I demand that you take the following actions without delay: • Call for and support the withdrawal or drastic restriction of ICE operations in U.S. cities, especially those that place heavily armed agents in day‑to‑day contact with civilians. • Enact a total overhaul of ICE hiring, training, and use‑of‑force standards to ensure that only highly vetted, well‑trained professionals are entrusted with such authority. • Demand a complete, independent, and fully transparent investigation into this incident in Minnesota, with all body‑camera and surveillance footage, internal communications, and legal justifications made public. • Work to end any form of functional immunity for federal agents who violate constitutional rights, particularly in cases of excessive and lethal force. No badge should be a shield for murder. I am truly embarrassed to be an American in this moment, not because of the ideals this country claims to stand for, but because of how far our government has strayed from them. If Congress refuses to act decisively, you are sending a clear message that federal agents are above the law and that ordinary citizens’ lives are expendable. Do your job. Use your oversight power. Pass laws that protect us. Help us reclaim a government that is bound by the Constitution and accountable to the people it serves.
