Have you ever visited Whitney Plantation? I did. I grew up in our Louisiana culture of glamorizing the antebellum south. Sure, there's rich history there. But ... we should never ever forget the brutal reality of slavery. Never. Whitney Plantation reminds us of that. It was a gut-wrenching emotional experience to walk those grounds from the slave perspective. It is history that must be told. I am dumbfounded that Trump Administration has rescinded grants to Whitney. They state the grant highlighting black history and culture "no longer serves the interest of the United States". WHAT?? It's HISTORY! Whitney loses funding because it's "BLACK" history? What the ever-loving heck are we becoming? Will you man-up and defend Whitney Plantation against this friggin' insanity? Please make it stop! Please intervene asap. Go visit Whitney.
