I write to express grave concern about federal agencies transmitting partisan political messaging to American citizens through email and mail both of which I have personally received. These communications violate the Hatch Act and abuse taxpayer resources for explicitly prohibited purposes. Since July 2025, the Social Security Administration has repeatedly sent unsolicited political messages praising President Trump. In October 2026, just weeks before midterms, the SSA bombarded nearly 70 million account holders with a message referencing Trump's name ten times, promoting Trump Accounts and GOP policy packages. When Democratic senators urged Commissioner Frank Bisignano to cease this abuse, he disregarded their warnings, and the messages continued. This pattern extends beyond the SSA. During the September 2025 government shutdown, multiple agencies including Labor, HUD, HHS, Education, Veterans Affairs, and OMB sent coordinated messages blaming Senate Democrats for the funding lapse. The Department of Education altered employees' out-of-office messages without consent, fraudulently depicting workers as authors of political statements they never approved. HUD's website displayed banners denouncing the "Radical Left," and Veterans Affairs newsletters explicitly blamed Democrats for service disruptions. The Trump administration further funded partisan political advertisements using taxpayer dollars, running ads promoting Trump's policies and attacking socialism in the months preceding the 2026 midterms. Legal experts including Richard Painter of the University of Minnesota have characterized this conduct as clear Hatch Act violations and violations of statutes prohibiting government propaganda. The Hatch Act prevents executive branch employees from leveraging federal power to influence electoral outcomes. When agencies become propaganda instruments for the incumbent administration, public confidence in government impartiality erodes irreparably. Citizens cannot reasonably distinguish between genuine service announcements and political messaging designed to sway votes. I urge you to demand that the Office of Special Counsel open immediate investigations into these violations and hold agency heads accountable. Penalties include removal from federal service, civil fines, and employment bans. The American people deserve assurance that their government operates fairly and that federal resources serve all citizens, not the reelection efforts of any president.
