I want you to support and work toward the swift passage of the VISIBLE Act (S.2212).
This bill is an essential step toward restoring transparency, accountability, and public trust in our immigration enforcement system. For too long, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents have conducted raids and detentions in plain clothes, using unmarked vehicles and refusing to identify themselves, tactics that echo those of secret police forces in authoritarian regimes.
No federal agency should be allowed to operate in secrecy, especially when it is exercising such broad powers that deeply impact families and communities. These bills would:
• Require immigration enforcement agents to wear clearly visible name tags and agency insignia,
• Prohibit the use of unmarked vehicles in public enforcement actions,
• Prevent agents from concealing their identities while carrying out arrests or raids.
The American people deserve to know who is enforcing the law and under what authority. These common-sense measures will protect civil liberties, prevent abuses, and reinforce the fundamental principles of democratic accountability.
I urge you to stand up for transparency and the rule of law by co-sponsoring and voting in favor of S.2212.
