Defund ICE After Marble Hill Shooting by Agent With Violent History
To: Sen. Lee, Sen. Curtis, Rep. Maloy

October 12
Cut ICE's funding. The Marble Hill shooting last Thursday is exactly what happens when a federal agency deploys agents with documented histories of violence and zero accountability. ICE agent Brendan Cuni — named in multiple lawsuits for violent arrests, flagged by judges in at least three separate cases for problems with his statements and paperwork — fired seven rounds into a car carrying a 28-year-old man and his five-year-old son.
Cuni was disguised as a construction worker with no visible federal identification, carrying an AR-15-style rifle in a residential New York City neighborhood. This is not a rogue incident. It is the predictable result of an agency that failed to screen its own staff and now operates with unchecked force in our communities. Oscar Belgal was shot in the neck and taken into federal custody. Representative Espaillat was physically blocked from visiting him in the hospital. This is not law enforcement. Defund ICE.
