Investigate and Pursue Impeachment of DHS Secretary Kristi Noem

To: Rep. Lee, Sen. Scott, Sen. Moody

From: A constituent in Land O' Lakes, FL

January 29

I am writing to you as a concerned constituent to urgently demand that Congress take immediate action regarding the conduct and public statements of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem following multiple fatal shootings by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and related federal agents in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In recent weeks, two U.S. citizens — Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti — were shot and killed amid federal immigration enforcement operations. These incidents have sparked widespread public outrage and raised profound questions about the use of deadly force by federal agents, the transparency of investigations, and the accuracy of official narratives. Despite video evidence and eyewitness accounts that contradict key claims made by Secretary Noem and other senior Department of Homeland Security officials, Noem has defended these actions with characterizations that are now widely disputed in public reporting and analysis. Among the troubling issues are: • Contradicted public statements: In the case of Alex Pretti’s death, Secretary Noem and DHS officials repeatedly described Pretti as an imminent threat and labeled the incident an act of domestic terrorism — claims that video evidence and local officials have directly challenged. • Misleading framing in public communications: Officials have asserted scenarios (such as the victims attempting to ram officers or engage violently) that investigators on the ground and available footage do not support. • Federal response undermining local involvement: Minnesota authorities have expressed concern about being sidelined in investigations and conflicting narratives coming from DHS leadership. • Growing bipartisan concern and calls for accountability: Federal and state leaders from both parties have criticized the handling of these incidents, and some members of Congress have already begun to pursue potential impeachment proceedings or to demand Noem’s resignation. This pattern reflects not just poor judgment but a failure to uphold the public trust and the standards of transparency and accountability that are essential to any law enforcement mission — especially when American lives are lost and federal authority is exercised in local communities. Accordingly, I demand that you: 1. Support a full, independent congressional investigation into Secretary Noem’s actions, statements, and the decision-making surrounding DHS and ICE operations in Minneapolis. 2. Pursue impeachment proceedings if the investigation demonstrates that Noem deliberately misled Congress and the public, abused the authority of her office, or failed to exercise proper oversight of federal enforcement agents. 3. Ensure meaningful accountability for any misuse of force or misrepresentation of facts by federal officials. The American people deserve truthful leadership and rigorous oversight of federal power — especially where human lives are at stake. I urge you to act with urgency and integrity.
