Urge a NO vote on funding bill
To: Sen. Kim, Sen. Booker
From: A constituent in Madison, NJ
March 12, 2025
I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed Republican funding bill currently under consideration. I urge you to vote against this measure for the following reasons:
Lack of Bipartisan Input: Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has criticized the bill for being crafted without Democratic input, labeling it a partisan approach that undermines collaborative governance.
THE WALL STREET JOURNAL
Disproportionate Funding Allocations: The bill proposes a $6 billion increase in military spending while cutting nondefense spending by $13 billion. This imbalance could harm essential domestic programs that millions of Americans rely on.
THE WALL STREET JOURNAL
Enhanced Executive Discretion: By extending funding at fiscal 2024 levels without detailed congressional instructions, the bill grants the administration greater flexibility in spending decisions. This shift could lead to reduced oversight and potential misallocation of resources.
THE WALL STREET JOURNAL
Negative Impact on Federal Workforce: Recent announcements indicate significant job cuts across various federal departments, including Education and Veterans Affairs. Passing this bill could exacerbate these layoffs, further diminishing the government's capacity to serve the public effectively.
THE WALL STREET JOURNAL
Opposition from House Democrats: House Democratic leaders have united in opposition to this bill, urging Senate Democrats to reject it due to concerns about its potential to dismantle critical federal programs and services.

Given these significant issues, I respectfully ask you to vote NO on the Republican funding bill. Instead, I encourage you to support a bipartisan, short-term continuing resolution that maintains government operations while allowing time for more equitable and comprehensive budget negotiations.
Thank you for your attention to this critical matter.
