Please prevent this government shutdown
To: Justices Court
From: A constituent in Miami, FL
September 27, 2025
I am writing to urge you to do everything in your power to prevent a government shutdown. The American people cannot afford to see their livelihoods, health, and financial stability placed at risk because of political infighting and the refusal of certain leaders to engage in good-faith negotiation.
A shutdown would endanger vital services that millions of families rely on—including access to health care, food assistance, and critical government programs. It would also deepen economic strain at a time when the cost of living is already rising. Every day that the government remains closed, ordinary Americans—not the wealthy or well-connected—bear the heaviest burden.
I am frustrated by the continued prioritization of protecting the interests of the wealthiest few at the expense of hardworking families. Leadership means working for all constituents, not just the most powerful. Partisanship and personal grievances must not be allowed to dictate decisions that have such sweeping consequences for the nation.
I urge you to put aside political gamesmanship and work toward a bipartisan solution that keeps the government open, protects our economy, and ensures the wellbeing of every American. The people you represent deserve leadership that places country above politics.
I will be watching closely to see how you act in this critical moment, and I sincerely hope you choose to stand with your constituents by preventing a shutdown.
