Today is day 20 of the government shutdown. Still, you continue to fail your constituents. I am shocked at the level of disregard that this Republican congress has for the American people. Every day the shutdown continues means families struggle to pay rent, buy groceries, and cover medical bills, while our national security and critical government operations are compromised. It is Congress’s responsibility to uphold its most basic duty—to fund the government—and it is shameful and unacceptable to continue to drag this out for political gain. The Republicans control the House and Senate, it is your responsibility to keep the government running. So do your job, find a compromise and pass the funding bill.
